The OnePlus TV looks stunning, especially the higher-end OnePlus TV Q1 Pro, that ships with a dedicated sound bar that can conveniently slide all the way in when not in use. Also, it costs a whopping Rs 99,900 – with the standard OnePlus TV Q1 that’s essentially the same thing without the built-in sound bar costing Rs 69,900. Of course, the OnePlus TV has features to justify the price tag. So much so that it has seemingly made Samsung sit up and notice - to the extent that it is dropping the price of its one-of-its-kind “The Frame” QLED TV in India, just hours after OnePlus announced the OnePlus TV. And with what’s in store here, OnePlus should worry – quite a bit.

Samsung will be selling the 55-inch 4K The Frame QLED TV in India at a reduced price of Rs 84,990 – down from Rs 1,19,999 – for a limited period during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale event. That is, from September 29 to October 4. The price drop will also be available on Samsung’s own online store during the same time period. Moreover, Samsung will be offering an additional instant cash back of Rs 5,000 on pre-paid transactions done through credit, debit cards and net banking, bringing the price of The Frame down further to Rs 79,990. The Frame will come with 10-year no screen burn-in warranty and two-year warranty on the panel, Samsung adds.

Samsung "The Frame" QLED TV specs and features

The Frame is quite literally a piece of art. You don’t even have to take Samsung’s word for it. The main USP of The Frame is its dedicated Art Mode that turns the smart TV into a canvas when not in use – turning it into a picture frame that comes with over 1,200 artworks from around the world. The TV packs in sensors that detect when you’re around and automatically switches to the Art Mode – it turns off when you leave, to save energy.

The 55-inch 4K QLED Frame comes with Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology and supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ playback. Being a Netflix recommended TV means it’s specifically fine-tuned for running Netflix directly from Netflix labs. While the OnePlus TV doesn’t support Netflix at this point of time. Elsewhere, The Frame supports two voice assistants – the Google Assistant and Samsung’s own Bixby.

“Samsung pioneered the QLED TV technology and The Frame QLED TV is a testament to our innovation where technology meets stunning design. This premium television is a must have for luxury spaces as it truly enhances the aesthetics while delivering superior picture quality. At Samsung, we are always pushing the boundaries of innovations to offer unmatched TV viewing experience. This festive season, with consumers upgrading to a better lifestyle, Samsung has partnered with Flipkart to offer our flagship television at a special price. With this offer price, we will further consolidate our market leadership in the TV category while also providing an unparalleled TV viewing experience,” Piyush Kunnapallil, Director - Online Business, Consumer Electronics, Samsung India said in a statement.

While the OnePlus TV still packs in more – hardware – with its key selling points being Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, The Frame can be a good option for those looking for a balance of both looks and picture quality – even more so at a price of under Rs 1 lakh.
